Repentance New

Repentance New

You are stiff necked; militant and adamant,
I am too, a rebellion worn with the fervor of a young man's fashion
All my academic strength, lumber and blunder,
My efforts and conviction haven't allowed the shedding of this outer skin

But Your love is beyond
All scars of sinful flesh
A grace to pardon the wronged
In my weakness You are strong

I'm a veteran of grieving You
Unsorry I have stood
But Your grace and love through
Your atonement woos me to repentance new

I have been overwhelmed by excess and sorrow
But You have reaffirmed Your love like bow and arrow
Though all my strife toward Your image was hollow
You have redeemed a heart that was destined fallow
